Another earthquake is in the headlines – the Earthquake Los Angeles. A 4.4-magnitude earthquake hit Los Angeles, California at 4:00 am. The earthquake in LA scared the people of the city because of the shaking that it made in the whole place. Earthquake Los Angeles’ epicenter was located at Pico Rivera which is 11 miles away from the area where most people of Los Angeles live.

Officials said that they were surveying the whole area to see if there are casualties of the earthquake in LA. They also said that the earthquake also caused no damages in the area’s buildings and infrastructures. They said that the infrastructures and buildings in Los Angeles were strong enough to bear the earthquake’s massive shaking.

As of now, there are no reported casualties. Earthquake Los Angeles was indeed a mild one but still, it was terrifying. More earthquake LA updates, soon.

An Earthquake with 6.0 Magnitude Hits Eastern Turkey

Before dawn on Monday (March 8, 2010) Turkey was hit by a 6.0-magnitude earthquake. The epicenter of the earthquake was located at the village of Basyurt, causing at least 57 killed people in an instant. This earthquake was the second time in the history of Eastern Turkey, the first was the 6.4-magnitude earthquake that hit the village near the Basyurt, the Bingol, which killed 160 people.

The Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the main material of building the common buildings in the Basyurt was the main reason why the earthquake killed a lot of people – the sun-dried bricks.

“Unfortunately, houses made of sun-dried brick constitute the architecture in the region,” said Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The sun-dried bricks or the mud-bricks were commonly used in the area. And these bricks were easily damaged by the 6.0-magnitude earthquake.
